New study finds "Acupuncture is effective for the treatment of chronic pain".

Acupuncture has long been traditionally used for the relief of chronic pain including back, shoulder and neck pain. Now a recent study published in the prestigious "Journal of Pain" has concluded from a meta-analysis of 39 trials and over 20,897 patients that acupuncture is "effective for the treatment of chronic pain, with treatment effects persisting over time ".

Further the study also concluded that " decreases in pain after acupuncture cannot be explained solely in terms of placebo effects ".
